Excelsior went to Common Edge to take on FC Talbot. Despite a 30 minutre wait for most in the dressing room for the gaffer to arrive Excelsior took to the pitch on time as follows:
Ross back from his eyelash injury in sticks, Nico retaining his place at right back, Scholes taking advantage of Neil's sore Sunday morning head to come in at left back with the trusty Andy Mac and Penalty King Green in the middle. Right to left in midfield was Mercer, Hopes, Fiss and Jeffrey, up top Sean and Wozza.
I didn't catch much of the team talk which was somewhere in between Sean being presented with a match ball by Sportspy and fishing out balls from what can only be described as raw excriment from the dyke behind the goal, Captain Fiss did offer some advice before the game however, "just give it to Wozza and we'll be right".
Unfortunately we couldn't get the ball to Wozza much in the first 20 minutes or so, or Sean or any of teh midfield for that matter it was just scrappy. Talbot took the lead after around half an hour through a hotly disputed penalty, Andy Mac the culprit, adjudged to have handballed. Andy was somewhat upset by the decision and eventually got himself booked for dissent! (Tut tut glass back, respect the officials!). Talbot duly scored the penalty and this kicked the Excelsior into life. By half time we had come round and it was 1-1 courtesy of a Wozza tap in after good work from Sean.
Second half there was only one team in it, Excelsior steam Rollered Talbot who had no answer to the waves of attack and sturdy defence. Lonsdale made it 2-1 and then 3-1 with 2 good finishes and then Captain Fiss produced a superb freekick from 25 yards(Fiss its on Fyldesport if you want to get it framed)to seal the game. Wozza added a fifth at the end to score his 15th of the season in 6 starts (feed the Woz and he will score). In between all this Hunty came on for Jeff and George came on for Hopes, Daz Worrall came on for a cameo 5 minutes replacing Nico. Greeny also put a penalty straight at the keeper!
Second half was more like it, we passed the ball well and the ball wasn't flying past the midfield giving them chance to slip in the forwards. Improvement on last week, but i still think there's more to come.
MOM - Difficult one, nobody had a bad game and nobody really stood out for me, I would probably give it Fiss swayed by the magic free kick.
Twat Of the Match - Noone today, not even a biter from the opposition.

Hunty - Too late to make a real impact 6

Daz Woz - It has to be a 6 doesn't it!! 6
