Cup Semi Preview
It seems like months ago that we spanked Layton Juniors to set up our Semi Final on Sunday against Progress Sports & Social.
In fact its only a month ago, its fair to say we've all been looking forward to this one for a while and I'm in no doubt every last one of us will be 110% up for this on Sunday. Will it be enough? I think it will if we play to our potential and show the kind of form we've been showing for the last 2 months.
A glance at the results shows Excelsior have won 7 out of the last 8 in all comps, the only blip the 5-1 defeat to Autoweld. We've beaten some good sides in there, Burlington are still top of 3B and look like they'll win it, Fairhaven, Layton Juniors, Waterloo Sports.
We know all about Progress, they have beaten us twice this season in 2 close games and are currently second in the league, Sunday will be a great chance for revenge. They are a good 3a team, but so are we now we've got our act together.
Apart from long term absentees Jon Evans and Carey Sicknote the gaffer should have a full squad to choose from apart from Youth products Danny and Al who are ineligible as they haven't played enough games yet. The only injury concern is top scorer Sean Lonsdales hammy.
I wouldn't like to be in the gaffers shoes having to pick a team for Sunday, dont get me wrong its a great problem to have as everyone in the last few weeks has staked their claim for a place, there will be a few disappointed subs on Sunday, but i'm sure whoever they are they will take it on the chin and do their bit when required. That for me is the great thing about the team this year, we are a TEAM and we are now playing for each other.
Whatever happens Sunday we can be proud of how far we have come in the last couple of months and win, lose or draw can build on it for a successful season next year. I'll resist the temptation to put a prediction on as I'll probably end up looking a complete tool. Hope everyone enjoys their Saturday night in, see you all Sunday. As our gaffer famously once said "how much do ya want it!!" Come on!!

Prediction....
I don't think I've played against this team before, but if we work hard and bite hard, there isn't a team who I have played against who could beat us on our day. Passion, determination and not giving them a second on the ball will win this one.
