After last week this is a game that had to be won.
This for me was the game of our season so far. We were by far the better side and to see us competing for almost everything was a delight. Our hard work paid off and the points are now looking very tastily in the bag.
Normal 4-4-2 formation. Ross in sticks with a back four of Clarky, Andy, Jon and Neil.
Engine room - Mercer, George, Fiss and Daz. Up top Wozzer and Sean. Game starts a little scrappy with very little chances going either way until midway through the 1st half. Fiss pops up with a left footed lob from edge of the 18 yard box up and over the keeper. 1-0 us.
We were playing some great football all over the park and creating great chances and were unlucky not to have the game wrapped up by 6 or 7 before the break, but Fairhaven got themselves back into the game with a cracker of a finish from their centre mid (think George must have been marking him), the goal however was disputed by our back line with stories that Neil got pole axed or snapped in half during the build up.
We cracked on in the 2nd half playing the Fairhaven off the park. Some neat one-twos created space for Wozzer and he tucked away on the angle. 2-1 us.
Sean got in on the act moments later running onto a through ball and scoring in classic fashion taking his tally to the dreaded 13. A little ball keeping and the game was won. Fairhaven managed a consolation in the dying minutes, too little too late.
