Our opening game of the 2007-2008 season saw us get off to a fantastic start, beating MA2 5-1.
Star striker Sean Lonsdale got off the mark with 4 excellent goals and precise finish from Steve Mercer put our opposition to bed.
After going 1-0 down against the run of play, it was looking to be a difficult game. However, our defence soon took control of the game and enabled our attacking pressure to build up.
The game was played in a friendly spirit with little in the way of incidents. The referee was hardly noticed today, which is a sign that he had a good game.
Manager Steve Downing was understandably delighted with the performance, and was quoted as saying "I expect nothing less than the league title this year".
Notable players today included Sean Lonsdale for his excellent attacking play and finishing, along with George Spittel for his solid and determined midfield performance.
