Well done X-Men!
Just a quick message boys from your new fantastic website administrator! Well done to all the lads for gaining promotion, a truly hard worked and hard fought season and an even bigger task ahead next year but that wont sway the X-Men!
We are still missing the last 3 match reports if any of the lads would like to step up and write them that would be much appreciated! ive carried on updating all the stats and what not and next year we're going to have an assists leader board!
Once again well done boys lets hope our fine form continues next season
afc marton - 22/03/09
Venue : Common Edge
Excelsior took on Marton looking to cement 2nd place and close the gap on leaders Fleetwood CC.
Usual warm up consisted of the usual’s putting the net up, the rest blasting the ball as hard as they can into the ‘half up’ net, getting bonus points for hitting the mugs trying to erect it. There was an added bit of excitement today as we were shooting towards Collins Park which has recently had a significant investment in spikey fencing making it fortress like, so a new competition was invented to see how many balls we could lose before kick-off into Collins Park.
Fairhaven 8th March 2009
Venue : Lytham Cricket Club
This week we paid a visit to second in the league Fairhaven. After our 3 point deduction we were somewhat adrift from our opponents and nothing but a win would be good enough to keep us close to the pack.
We started off with the same 4-5-1 formation as last week. The only personnel changes were Greeny coming in at centre half, Nico at right back and Dezzy in the side again on the right wing. After our morning quiz off, thanks to Steve, and a good warm up, thanks to Nico, the name Kanu was still buzzing around my head.
North West Kitchens 1/3/2009
Another Sunday and another game against NWK. At first they seemed to be our main rivals but we've seen that much of this lot lately that they're almost part of the team. However friendly we have become the 90 minutes are anything but friendly, most of us still have the NWK calling card on our ankles from the last time we met. A new formation was rolled out on the sound advice of assistant manger John Evans. John put his request in for this line up 2 years ago and after a loss last week it seems Steve eventually got round to looking at John's request.
Excelsior kicked out of cup
It has been confirmed that FC Excelsior have been expelled from the League cup and fined for fielding Mark Truby in the cup thrashing of North West Kitchens. NWK have been re-instated. We have also been docked 3 points and fined for allegedly fielding an inelligeble player in the 3-1 defeat to FC Brun Grove. I am presuming this is guess work by the committee as there is absolutely no evidence of this. Excelsior are considering an appeal.

north west kitchens 15/2/2009
Venue - Blackpool Airport Runway
Opposition - North West Kitchens
A typical Common Edge Sunday morning greeting us, along with a pumped up North West Kitchens side, Pitch 8 was the venue and again a healthy turnout from Excelsior. I don't think I need to go into what has gone on the last couple of weeks but those events meant we were promised a fiery and eventful game against our new rivals.
